Les Potts, founder of the Boxing Club in Rugeley, invited Jeremy along to a session last week. Les and others work with a large group of young people - several from Stafford - on personal fitness and coach them in boxing.

As Les explained, the club helps to instill personal discipline and gives a real sense of purpose to those who come. He and his colleagues give up several evenings every week voluntarily to make it happen.

Jeremy was fortunate to be there on a night when the club was visited by Wayne Elcock (www.wayneelcock.com) who is currently British Middleweight Champion and will fight for the world title in Basel, Switzerland, next month.

Wayne spoke very eloquently of how boxing had given him a great chance in life and kept him out of trouble when he was young.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening though Jeremy soon found out that his personal fitness was not what it should be!
