Andrew Mitchell MP, Shadow International Development Secretary, visited Stafford at the end of March to see how the town is weathering the recession.

Among the businesses visited by Mr Mitchell was Stafford Railway Building Society. He learned first-hand how it has won national acclaim for its responsible lending.

Mr Mitchell said: “I have been delighted to have the opportunity to visit Stafford and see how the Railway Building Society has been proving that well run and responsible lenders can lead the way during the current recession."
