Local Stafford Conservatives are supporting the call to hold a referendum on the controversial European Union agreement to be debated in the Commons on Wednesday. Last Saturday morning, 1 March, the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Stafford, Jeremy Lefroy and his team canvassed residents in Walton for their views on the Referendum.

“The response from local residents has been encouraging with many completing pledge cards which will be delivered to Downing Street.” explained Jeremy. “According to recent opinion polls, 8 out of 10 British people want a referendum on the Treaty. Gordon Brown promised us a referendum in the 2005 Labour general election manifesto and now he has gone back on his promise.”
